As we find ourselves immersed in the month of love, what better a time to explore a beautiful idea that wants to wrap the world in a warm, soft blanket of that most powerful, delicious, boundless expression.
Love.. it surrounds every being and extends slowly to embrace all that we shall be. ~ Kahlil Gibran
Six months ago I was delighted to meet an inspiring young lady with a enormous heart, Megan Minesinger, whom after exchanging messages on the social networking site Twitter, I quickly became great friends with. As we moved beyond the 140 character dimension our friendship deepened and I was amazed upon discovering her beautiful vision for a more loving world. Megan, along with her sisters Amanda and Rachel whom share in the vision, are on a mission to encourage the world to love more, and I for one am joining them on that mission.
In dreams and in love there are no impossibilities. ~ Janos Arnay
Megan tells us that the first impression of Days of Love came to her after just having surgery, when she was confined to the space of her bed, yet with the blessing of the internet was unlimited in the realms in which her mind could dance. She jokes that she couldn’t help but be allured by the entertaining news, gossip and social sites as a way of passing time, yet she was saddened by all the hate that she saw. All the negativity she witnessed prompted a realization that the hate wasn’t just on the internet but that the internet was merely a reflection of our world. She wondered how many tears, hateful comments, and even suicides, could have been prevented if just one person showed love within that hate. In a world that she perceived as lacking love, creating Days of Love appeared as a potent antidote, a restoring remedy. Love is the strongest force in the universe, and like a light brighter than bright, it has the unparalleled power to dissolve darkness and transmute negativity.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; Only Light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; Only Love can do that. ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Days of Love is an outstanding idea to breathe more love into life. Much like World Peace Day on the 21st September; a day dedicated to peace, or specifically the absence of war, Days of Love, which begins on the 6th and 7th of February, are dedicated to love, or specifically the vanquishing of hate. People all around the world will consciously unite on these days to support love in action; in the myriad of ways that this can be fulfilled, with a more heightened sensitivity and awareness of love. As Leo Buscaglia writes in his book Love: “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” He says it is not enough to have lived, and that we should be determined to live for something, suggesting that be creating joy for others, sharing what we have for the betterment of personkind, bringing hope to the lost and Love to the lonely.
How far that little candle throws his beams! So shines a good deed in a weary world. ~ William Shakespeare
I am animated by the premise that Days of Love, although having fixed dates, is rooted in an intention of continuity; not a singular day of our time, but many days with a dream of expanding to become the new status quo. This idealistic endeavor might sound naive, yet the human race has entered into a new age; the Age of Aquarius, and I believe this idea rides upon the leading-edge wave of consciousness that is sweeping across our wonderful planet. As a fun exploration, take note of the fabulous song by The Fifth Dimension The Age of Aquarius which announces the actual start of the age within the first lines of their much loved tune: “When the Moon is in the seventh house, and Jupiter aligns with Mars. Then peace will guide the planets, and love will steer the stars.”
This astronomical alignment actually happened on February 14th in 2009 – Valentine’s Day – the day of celebrating and honoring love in all it’s expressions. The Age of Aquarius is the age of enlightenment, freedom, creativity, hope, idealism, humanitarianism, awakening, philanthropy, peace, and universal love – and so for me, Days of Love is not only a beautiful, inspiring idea, but also an important and timely one that I believe commands respect and our attention.
Love is life. And if you miss love, you miss life. ~ Leo Buscaglia
Although it’s in an embryonic phase, I see the vast potential for Days of Love and would urge you to visit the website www.DaysofLove.org and perhaps share your suggestions, your support, your love – let’s be the cheer-leaders for this wonderful vision! How will you be anchoring more love on the planet on the 6th and 7th of February? And then on Valentines Day, let’s honor and celebrate the love that we are and the love that we share!
If love is in our hearts, every thought, word, and deed can bring about a miracle. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

Be miraculous! Let’s live in love, being the love we wish to see in the world! Let’s use these special focus dates, and this entire month of love, to propel ourselves into a fresh awareness of the love that is all around and within us, marking this month as a loving catalyst for the rest of the year. And, wherever we might perceive that love is lacking, may we be there in those moments to share our loving presence, which as Megan, Amanda and Rachel understand in the following tweet that I’ve lifted from their Twitter stream, can be oh so simple..
Pssst… come here… psst.. come closer….
